What can I expect out of, and what to pay for, a tuneup?
The AAMCO shop (who replaced the EGR) said “a few hundred dollarsâ€. What is a few?!? $200? $500? $1000?
Thanks in advance…
Nancy
Hi Nancy,
I am on vacation in Roatan Honduras in the Caribbean, so I cant tell you how much parts for your car should cost you, but your vehicle should probably get these parts as part of a maintenance tune up.
I say maintenance, because if you are trying to solve a particular problem, like a check engine light coming on…a tune up might not correct it, but this tune up list should be part of your regular scheduled maintenance program.
1. replace spark plugs and spark plug wires
2. replace distributor cap and ignition rotor….if your year model is equipped with them
3. replace fuel and air filters
4. clean the throttle body and check the PCV (positive crankcase ventilation) valve
I would expect this repair, parts and labor to be around $280 if you don’t have or need a distributor cap and $320 if you do need a cap and rotor.
Blessings,
Austin Davis
