It’s like watching a child grow, this evolution of the Toyota RAV4. It started out as a tiny little thing, a compact SUV that had everything it needed. For 2007, though, it has gotten longer, taller, wider, and heavier, and it seems like little RAV4 as finally gone through puberty. Now it’s big enough for the whole family and then some, with three rows and a powerful 3.5 liter V6 engine with 269 horsepower. This growth is a response to demand for an increase in size among SUVs, so the RAV4 has left its old self behind and in 2007 joins the big boys.
The RAV4 comes in three different models, each of which comes with front wheel drive and a 24 liter 166 power inline four, with the option of upgrade to the 3.5 liter V6. With each model up, more features are added to those in the last model. All of them come with AC, cruise control, a six speaker sound system, keyless entry, tilt-and-telescope wheel, and aut-off headlamps.
With the base RAV4, you can add a third row seat, a six-disc CD changer, 17 inch wheels, a cargo cover, roof rails, and a towing package that comes with a heavy-duty radiator and fan. With the RAV4 Sport, you get
- roof rack with cross bars
- tinted glass in the back
- fog lamps
- sport-tuned suspension
- Options for: nine speaker sound system with subwoofer, steering wheel controls, power moonroof.
The RAV4 Limited comes with
- dual zone climate control
- six disc CD changer’
- heated mirrors
- leather wheel with shift knob
- chrome grille
- Options are: third row seat, heated leather seats, an drear entertainment system.
In 2007, Toyota is making curtain airbags standards, a necessary move that came a little late but adds to the safety of the RAV4. In addition, the RAV4 has anti lock brakes, an electronic stability system, LATCH child safety seat anchors, brake assist, electronic brake force distribution, and traction control.
